How to Take Care of Your Candles

Welcome to the So Thrown Candle Company, where the warm glow and comforting crackle of wooden wick candles illuminates moments, one candle at a time. To ensure the best experience with our candles, follow these care instructions:

  • Trim the Wick: Before lighting your So Thrown Candle, trim the wooden wick to around 1/8 to 1/4 inch. This ensures a steady flame and prevents excess mushrooming. A well-trimmed wick promotes an even burn and a longer-lasting candle.

  • First Burn Matters: Allow your candle to burn for at least 2-3 hours during the first use. This establishes a 'memory burn,' preventing tunneling in subsequent uses and ensuring an even wax pool.

  • Subsequent Burns: Before each use, trim the wick to maintain its length. This prevents debris and mushrooming. Let the candle burn long enough for the wax pool to reach the edges but avoid burning for more than 4 hours at a time.

  • Mind the Debris: Wooden wicks may produce ash or debris. After extinguishing the flame, gently tap off any debris using a tissue or a So Thrown wick trimmer.

  • Extinguishing the Flame: Instead of blowing out the candle, consider using a So Thrown wick dipper or snuffer. This minimizes smoke and ensures a clean start for your next burn.

  • Keep it Clean: Regularly clean the container by removing debris or excess wax. This not only enhances the appearance but also contributes to the overall burn quality.

  • Be Patient: So Thrown wooden wicks may take a moment to light. Once lit, savor the unique crackling sound and the cozy atmosphere they create.

With these care instructions, you'll maximize the life of your So Thrown Candle and experience the true beauty of our handcrafted wooden wick candles.
